Service Manager / Lead Bicycle Mechanic Epicenter Cycling - Aptos, CA Epicenter Cycling is looking for an experienced Service Manager / Lead Bicycle Mechanic to join our team in Aptos. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is passionate about bikes, takes pride in high-quality workmanship, and enjoys building relationships with customers and teammates. The ideal candidate combines advanced mechanical skills with strong communication and organizational abilities. You will help oversee the daily operations of the service department, manage workflow, support technicians, and ensure every customer receives exceptional service. Responsibilities/Service Department Leadership Manage day-to-day operations of the service department. Schedule and prioritize repairs to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction. Lead, mentor, and support service technicians. Ensure all repairs and builds meet Epicenter Cycling's quality standards. Monitor turnaround times and maintain a productive workflow. Customer Service Communicate clearly with customers regarding repair needs, estimates, and timelines. Provide professional recommendations for maintenance, upgrades, and bicycle setup. Deliver an exceptional service experience that builds long-term customer relationships. Assist with warranty claims and manufacturer communications when necessary. Mechanical Responsibilities Perform advanced bicycle repairs, diagnostics, and custom builds. Service suspension systems, hydraulic brakes, drivetrains, and electronic shifting systems. Assemble and inspect new bicycles to manufacturer specifications. Stay current on new technologies and service procedures across major bicycle brands. Qualifications Extensive bicycle mechanic experience required. Previous service manager, lead mechanic, or shop leadership experience preferred. Strong knowledge of modern mountain bikes, road bikes, gravel bikes, and e-bikes. Experience with suspension service, hydraulic brake systems, and electronic drivetrains preferred. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Strong organizational and time-management abilities. Ability to lead by example and foster a positive team environment.
