Position Overview:
This is a year-round part-time position with variation to schedule, depending on the season: Approximately mid-May through
August:
The position will focus on Butterflies & Blooms in a full-time capacity. Responsibilities include administering, managing, and supporting all aspects of the Butterfly & Blooms attraction, as well as the daily operations, staffing, training, and providing excellent visitor experiences. Approximately September through
May:
The role transitions to support Visitor Experience in a part-time capacity. Duties include admission cashiering, ticket scanning, working evening events, and other assigned tasks.
Responsibilities Butterflies & Blooms:
Ensure a full roster of B&B volunteers and staff Maintain required staffing levels inside the attraction Support B&B staff and volunteers on day-to-day concerns and ongoing training Gain subject matter competency working with the B&B horticultural staff and Visitor Program staff Maintain daily communication with horticultural staff to learn about plants, arrival of pupae and any changes in the attraction Work with the Public Programs Manager to support the interpretive and educational aspects of the attraction and manage other aspects of the attraction as requested by the manager Mentor and coach staff and volunteers to create an outstanding volunteer experience Conduct staff and volunteer B&B training in conjunction with Volunteer Services, Public Programs, and Horticulture Departments Interact with visitors using exceptional customer service standards and address their needs promptly
Visitor Experience:
Work with Visitor Experience from early September to May 15 by supporting VE operations in admission cashiering, admission scanning during both day and evening hours. Work includes operations at multiple sites, redemption areas-both indoor and outdoor-and other duties as assigned. Work with Visitor Experience on special Garden events including Orchid Show, Bulb Sale, Night of 1,000 Jack-o'-Lanterns, and Lightscape. Nights and weekends will be required.
