(BA-IUOA-IUBLA) Department Information The Office of Student Life is focused on building a strong foundation to ensure every student's Indiana University experience is positive, safe, healthy, and meaningful. The Office of Student Life staff and multiple departments aim to help students navigate their time at IU, providing the tools they need to be successful in school and after graduation. Serving over 36,000 students, faculty, staff, and community members annually, we offer wide-ranging programs across 2 multipurpose facilities, indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts, adventure spaces, and more. Job Summary The Trip Leader provides support for assigned adventure trips based on certifications and experience. Department-Specific Responsibilities Manages opening and closing procedures for the shop. Manages gear inventory, maintenance, cleaning, and repair. Communicates with incoming and outgoing customers. Provides customer service and manage general office operations. Assists with IU Outdoor Adventures annual Gear Sale. Plans and prepares logistics for leading activities like backpacking, kayaking/canoeing, rock climbing, and more. Oversees group dynamics and safety. Other special projects/events as deemed necessary by IUOA Administrators Pulling, packing, and returning equipment for trips. Reports to the Skill Development Coordinator. Qualifications

Required Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred Prior retail experience Customer service experience SKILLS Required Strong customer service skills and a desire to serve others. Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail to support inventory process, keep shop and rental gear areas organized and maintain paperwork. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook). Strong leadership Problem-solving Working Conditions / Demands These positions require sitting and maintaining attention for long periods of time and frequently moving about the workspace. Positions require working both indoors and outdoors and ability to move objects up to 50 pounds with assistance. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. Early morning, evening and weekend shifts may be required. Onsite work will take place at the following campus recreation facilities: Eigenmann Hall Outdoor Adventure Center Advertised Salary $13.35 per hour This position is work-study eligible Work Hours Minimum of 4 hours per week, not to exceed 29 hours per week across all campus positions. Flexible scheduling is available and may vary by position.
