Opportunity:
An established, highly reputable glass and glazing contractor is currently conducting a confidential search for an experienced Service Manager . We are looking for an operational leader to take ownership of our Residential and City Service division. If you have a strong background in the construction/glazing trades and excel at managing field technicians, driving profitability, and enforcing high standards of safety and quality, we want to speak with you.
The Role:
As the Service Manager, you are the operational leader of the division. You will oversee a team of 5 to 8 direct reports, drive daily service dispatch, manage estimating and customer relations, and ensure that all residential and city-contracted work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. You are accountable for both the profitability of the service department and the strict enforcement of company policies in the field.
Primary Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Dispatch:
Directly manage, schedule, and route a team of 5-8 Service Technicians. Ensure the daily workload is distributed effectively for all residential glass repairs, replacements, and city service calls.
Payroll & Policy Compliance:
Act as the primary approving manager for the service team's timecards. Ensure strict adherence to company timekeeping protocols (direct-to-site punching, meal breaks) and complete all timecard approvals prior to mandatory weekly deadlines. Enforce established travel and commuting policies.
Estimating & Sales:
Conduct site visits, accurately measure jobs, and generate precise estimates/quotes for residential clients and city projects. Follow up on leads to maintain a strong pipeline of service work.
Customer Experience:
Serve as the primary point of escalation for residential customer concerns. Ensure a high standard of communication, professionalism, and quality control on every job site.
Fleet & Inventory Management:
Oversee the maintenance schedule for all service vehicles. Ensure that fleet fueling policies are followed (fueled at the end of the day) and that technicians maintain proper inventory and material stock in their trucks.
Safety & Documentation:
Enforce OSHA standards, zero-tolerance safety rules, and the company dress code (jeans, boots, high-visibility as needed). Guarantee that technicians are actively using our mobile field service software to upload required job site photography and documentation.
Performance Management:
Conduct regular performance reviews, issue corrective action for policy violations (including time clock and vehicle policy infractions), and train new service technicians on standard operating procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements:
5+ years of experience in the glazing or construction trades, with a strong emphasis on residential glass and service work. 2+ years of direct management or supervisory experience overseeing field technicians. Strong ability to read blueprints, measure materials accurately, and utilize estimating software. Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills. Valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Proficiency with mobile field service software and documentation apps.
Pay:
$65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
