Assistant Service Manager Vesco Oil Corporation - 3.5 Detroit, MI Job Details $30 - $32 an hour 7 hours ago Qualifications Field service equipment repair Managing technical support teams Customer communication Staff supervision Team supervision Outdoor work Full Job Description Vesco Oil Company is seeking a hands-on Assistant Service Manager to support leadership of our field Service Department. This role combines team supervision, scheduling, and technical support with the opportunity to step in and perform service work when needed. You'll play a critical role in ensuring jobs are completed on time, technicians are supported, and customers receive high-quality service across automotive, industrial, and quick lube environments. What You'll Do Assist the Service Manager with the day-to-day management of the Service Department, ensuring daily operations run smoothly and high-quality service delivery standards are provided. Schedule daily/weekly jobs, assign technicians, and prioritize service calls Ensure proper staffing and resource allocation for each job Monitor quality and timeliness of installations, repairs, and maintenance Step in on-site as needed for support or escalation resolution Train, mentor, and evaluate technicians to build skills and consistency Reinforce best practices and technical standards Enforce safety procedures, PPE use, and regulatory compliance Identify hazards and take corrective action in the field Monitor work orders, job completion, and team efficiency Address performance gaps or delays quickly Act as the main link between technicians, customers, and internal teams Ensure clear job expectations and customer satisfaction Support technicians with complex technical issues Escalate or resolve customer concerns as needed Assist with the assessment of equipment performance and recommend improvements or upgrades Complete services when needed during staffing shortages or when work volume requires it What We're Looking For Strong technical knowledge of fluid handling or similar mechanical systems Experience leading or mentoring technicians in a field service environment Ability to balance hands-on work with team coordination and scheduling Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in fast-paced environments Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities Familiarity with safety compliance and OSHA standards Minimum Qualifications 3+ years of experience as a Service Technician (industrial equipment or similar) 1+ year of experience in a leadership or supervisory role Preferred Experience Experience with lubrication systems or fluid handling equipment Background in automotive, industrial, or quick lube environments Experience improving workflows, job efficiency, or service processes Travel Up to 25% travel within the Midwest Occasional overnight travel required Work Environment & Physical Requirements Frequent work at customer sites, warehouses, and service locations Exposure to industrial environments, equipment, noise, and varying conditions Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work during installations and service calls Comfortable working indoors and outdoors, including in inclement weather May require extended hours or weekends based on business needs Why Join Vesco?
