Essential Duties:
Department Leadership & Operations Manage daily operations of the service department, including shop and field service activities. Plan, organize, and prioritize repair schedules to maximize technician efficiency and customer response times. Develop and/or enforce service department policies, procedures, and safety standards. Monitor workflow, shop capacity, labor utilization, and work order completion. Maintain clean, organized, and safe shop facilities. Customer Service Build and maintain strong customer relationships through responsive communication and problem resolution. Review repair estimates and communicate service recommendations, timelines, and costs to customers. Handle escalated customer concerns and ensure timely resolution. Promote customer satisfaction and long-term service partnerships. Financial Performance Manage departmental profitability, including labor sales, service revenue, and expense control. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as net income, technician efficiency, and billable hours. Manage service department budgets and forecasts. Review and approve invoices, warranty claims, and service write-offs. Technician & Staff Management Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate service technicians and support staff. Conduct performance reviews and establish development plans. Schedule staffing to support workload demands and emergency service needs. Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment. Equipment & Technical Oversight Ensure quality repairs and compliance with manufacturer specifications. Coordinate diagnostics, maintenance, rebuilds, and emergency repairs for heavy construction equipment. Support technicians with troubleshooting and technical guidance. Stay current on equipment technologies, manufacturer updates, and service bulletins. Warranty & Compliance Oversee warranty administration and ensure accurate claim processing. Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, DOT, and company safety regulations. Maintain accurate service records and documentation. Collaboration Coordinate with the Parts Department to ensure timely parts availability. Partner with Sales to support equipment delivery, inspections, and customer support initiatives.
