Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Service Writer/Manager to oversee the daily operations of our service department. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, a solid understanding of heavy equipment, and the ability to deliver exceptional customer service while managing work orders, technicians, and service flow.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the main liaison between the service department, customers, and technicians Greet customers and gather detailed descriptions of equipment issues Open, schedule, and manage work orders, ensuring accuracy and timely completion Coordinate and communicate repair timelines, costs, and updates to customers Assign jobs to technicians based on skill, availability, and priority Track, review, and authorize parts and labor charges in service invoices Support warranty claim submissions and maintain service documentation Manage service department workloads to optimize productivity and customer satisfaction Monitor safety and compliance standards in all service operations Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers through professionalism and responsiveness
Qualifications:
Experience in a service writer or service manager role within heavy equipment, automotive, or related industries Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment, construction machinery, or diesel engines preferred Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills Proficient in computer systems, including service or work order management software Exceptional communication and customer service skills Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team of skilled technicians Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and perform equipment inspections which may involve moving on or under machines in shop or field environments. Valid driver's license required
