Salary Full Time Position Summary:
The Retail General Manager oversees the daily operations of the store, driving sales performance, ensuring operational excellence, and maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations—including Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) requirements where applicable. This role is responsible for managing staff, delivering an exceptional customer experience, and ensuring strict adherence to ATF recordkeeping, security, and reporting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage all aspects of store operations, including sales, staffing, inventory, merchandising, and customer service. Recruit, train, and develop team members to meet performance and compliance expectations. Ensure compliance with all ATF regulations, including but not limited to: Accurate completion, maintenance, and storage of ATF Form 4473 and related documentation. Strict adherence to NICS background check procedures and requirements. Secure storage and handling of firearms and ammunition in compliance with ATF regulations. Timely and accurate reporting of thefts, losses, or other required notifications to ATF. Maintaining an up-to-date Acquisition & Disposition (A&D) record book. Conduct regular compliance audits and training to reinforce ATF, state, and local laws. Manage P&L, budgeting, and forecasting to achieve financial targets. Implement policies and best practices to maximize efficiency and minimize risk. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and exceptional customer service.
Qualifications:
3+ years of retail management experience, preferably in a regulated retail environment. Strong knowledge of ATF regulations and firearms compliance procedures (FFL management experience highly preferred). Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proven track record of achieving sales goals and operational efficiency. Ability to train and mentor staff on compliance and customer service standards. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Physical & Other Requirements:
Ability to stand and move for extended periods. May require lifting up to 50 lbs. Must be able to pass background checks as required for firearms handling and ATF compliance.
