TERO Ordinance 2017-01, P.L. 93-638 Job Summary The Customer Services Associate I is responsible for greeting visitors of Kenaitze Indian Tribe in a friendly, professional, and helpful way. The Customer Services Associate I is responsible for answering and routing calls, coordinating incoming and outgoing mail, handling inquiries from the public, and monitoring access to the building by visitors. Essential Functions Greet customers to the Tribe and notify applicable staff members of their arrival and guide customers as appropriate Responsible for inventory and ordering of office supplies Responsible for check/cash handling process and ensuring incoming monies are routed correctly Setting up Coffee Carafes for meetings in the Tribe's Council Chambers and Administrative Office Conference Room Answer main phone line, direct calls to appropriate staff, and send "missed call emails," where applicable Maintain coffee supply for employees and customers Provide employment information and Tribal program applications to the public as requested; when applications are received date stamp and submit to appropriate staff The Tribe's mail responsibilities include: mail pick-up at the Tribe's locations and post office and delivery to administration, and subsequent, respective staff Maintain two office copy machines, supplies and coordinating service calls for repair Maintain office stamp machine, ordering supplies, adding postage and seeing that all outgoing mail is stamped and if needed certified, return receipt Coordinate courier pick-up when requested (Fed Ex, UPS, and Gold Streak, etc.) Attend training and staff meetings as required Assist with Tribal Member Services mailings Ensures Dena'ina language and culture are promoted in tribal operations, functions, events, and public relations Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinance It is the intent of this job description to highlight the essential functions of the position; however, it is not an all-inclusive list. The incumbent may be called upon and required to follow or perform other duties and tasks requested by his/her supervisor, consistent with the purpose of the position, department and/or the Kenaitze Indian Tribe's objectives. Working Conditions Lifting Requirements Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work. Drives KIT or Personal Vehicle:
Both Travel Local Qualifications Education High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or a combination of education and experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree Preferred Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities License/Certification Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy Special Skills Ability to type 40 wpm Good oral and written communication Excellent customer service skills Ability to handle customer complaints in a professional manner Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines Availability to work occasional nights and weekends Willingness to learn the language, culture and history of the Dena'ina people Ability to lift program materials weighing up to 50 pounds Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful and kind when dealing with un'ina, visitors, co-workers and others Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively This position is a Covered Position subject to all requirements of the Alaska Barrier Crimes Act (ABCA) and to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, (ICPA). ABCA and ICPA requirements apply and must be complied with at all times in order to remain in the position.
