Service Writer Role The Service Writer is the face of DCI, ensuring customer support via phone, email, and in-person interactions. This role is pivotal in managing the service lifecycle—from initial quoting and upselling to providing real-time updates and finalizing billing.
Essential Job Functions Customer Management:
Act as the primary point of contact for all inquiries. Provide accurate quotes, identify opportunities for additional services, and maintain communication through final payment.
Workflow Coordination:
Generate detailed repair orders, conduct daily yard audits, and maintain shop logs to ensure maximum operational efficiency.
Production Liaison:
Serve as the vital link between Service Management and Technicians to ensure projects remain on schedule and meet quality standards.
Parts & Inventory Management:
Research, procure, and allocate parts according to job specifications. Support the fabrication team by ensuring all necessary materials are staged and ready.
Administrative Oversight:
Manage technician timekeeping for weekly payroll submittal and track daily Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to be displayed within the facility.
Invoicing & Documentation:
Prepare and finalize shop invoices. Maintain comprehensive job files, including all correspondence and approvals, to ensure prompt processing and payment.
Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience:
5+ years of experience in a similar service-oriented or industrial role.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in administrative tasks, time management, and organizational workflows.
Interpersonal Skills:
A self-starter with exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a "customer-first" mentality.
Work Environment Active Role:
This position requires frequent movement between the office and the yard for vehicle and tank inspections.
