Job Description
Position SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Store Manager and Area Manager, the Customer Service Representative (CSR) supports daily store operations while upholding the companys commitment to exceptional customer service. This role is responsible for cashiering, maintaining store presentation, ensuring food and beverage quality, and fostering a safe and welcoming environment for all customers. The CSR serves as the face of H&S Energy, creating a positive experience for every guest through friendly interactions, product knowledge, and efficient service.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbsRequires use of hands, arms, and vision to operate POS systems and restock merchandiseMust be able to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditionsExposure to cleaning chemicals, fuel fumes, and noise typical of a retail fuel environmentMust be able to communicate clearly and effectively in person and over the phoneReasonable accommodations will be provided as required by law 2-3 days/weekevenings 3:30pm-12am graveyard 11:30pm - 7:30am.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Customer Service ExcellenceGreet all customers with enthusiasm and professionalism, creating a welcoming environment (Welcome to H&S / Welcome to Shell)Deliver friendly, efficient, and accurate service at checkout while maintaining a positive attitudeFollow the companys Four Steps of Customer Service with every interaction to achieve outstanding customer satisfaction and Mystery Shop performanceCommunicate current promotions, loyalty programs, and product recommendations to enhance customer engagementRepresent the company with professionalism in appearance, communication, and conduct Cash Handling & Register OperationsOperate the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately for all cash, credit, and debit transactionsEnsure correct change is given, receipts are issued, and refunds or exchanges are processed per company policyPerform safe drops, cash counts, and drawer balancing at shift end following standard proceduresVerify identification for age-restricted items (alcohol, tobacco, lottery) and credit transactions Store Presentation & MerchandisingStock shelves, coolers, and displays to ensure products are organized, priced correctly, and visually appealingMaintain signage, promotional materials, and pricing accuracyRemove expired, damaged, or recalled items and report discrepancies to the Station ManagerKeep the sales floor, counters, and displays neat, clean, and clutter-free Food & Beverage HandlingPrepare and maintain all self-serve and ready-to-eat food and beverage stations (coffee, fountain, roller grill, etc.)Follow all food safety, sanitation, and temperature guidelinesClean and sanitize equipment regularly to ensure quality and compliance Maintenance, Cleanliness & SafetyMaintain cleanliness of the entire facility, including restrooms, fueling area, and trash disposalRefill windshield washer stations, paper towels, and squeegees at the pumpsFollow all safety procedures and emergency response protocols, including knowledge of shutoff systemsReport equipment malfunctions or safety hazards immediately to management Additional DutiesAdhere to the stations shift duties checklist for assigned shiftsUnderstand and assist with car wash operations (if applicable)Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management Education and Work ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredPrevious experience in retail, food service, or customer-facing roles preferredBasic knowledge of POS systems and cash-handling proceduresCPR and First Aid training a plusStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environmentSkill SetStrong customer service and communication skillsAbility to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced settingSelf-motivated and dependable, with strong follow-through and attention to detailAble to follow direction, take initiative, and maintain professionalism under pressureComfortable using computers and POS systems; basic Microsoft Office skills a plusFlexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidaysPhysical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
