Job Description

We are currently hiring Wheelchair/Ambulatory Drivers for our Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) services. This role is ideal for individuals with full availability who are looking to make a real difference by safely transporting gurney-bound passengers to and from medical facilities.
Duties & Responsibilities:
o Safely transport ADA passengers and assist passengers in boarding/exiting the vehicle. This includes passengers using mobility devices (i.e. wheelchairs, scooters, walkers). o Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections to ensure proper operation of vehicle, including on-board equipment. Report any conditions which require repair and/or maintenance on the vehicle. o Safely perform scheduled routes dispatched to drivers per on-time performance standards. o Follow safety procedures for loading, unloading and securing all passengers. o Safe operation of vehicles, including adherence to all California DMV laws. o Provide excellent customer service. o Diffuse difficult situations during the work day. o Report delays, accidents, and other traffic issues using authorized communication devices. o Accurately document all trips, odometer readings, beginning/end of shift, and lunch breaks. o Follow defensive driving techniques to minimize the risk of accidents and incidents. o Properly account for all fares collected (program specific). o Immediately report any accident or incident which occurs during the work day. o Comply with all attendance and uniform policies. o Safety first culture must be a priority. o Maintain good hygiene and a professional image at all times.
Essential Functions & Requirements:
o Ability to lift, walk, bend, squat, twist, crouch, reach, kneel, maneuver, and display physical dexterity. o Ability to push/pull passengers of all sizes using mobility devices (including wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, etc.) to board/exit the vehicle. o Ability to sit for extended periods of time. o Possess full range of sense of hearing, and vision (with corrective lenses permissible). o Successful completion of a pre-employment physical exam. Screening examinations include (but are not limited to):
  • Breath Alcohol Testing
  • Drug screenings (including screenings for
CBD & THC
)
  • Physical examination (Human performance evaluation and lift test)
  • Tuberculosis test
Live Scan:
state and federal background check o Experience handling medical transport equipment is preferred but not required. Training is provided. o This role requires the ability to confidently operate GPS navigation systems, mobile and tablet-based applications for pre-trip vehicle inspections and passenger information review, and two-way radio devices for effective communication with dispatch. The ideal candidate demonstrates adaptability to digital tools and attention to detail. o Candidates must demonstrate the ability to multitask effectively and manage multiple requests simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. o Demonstrated reliability and a genuine passion for serving the community. o Strong communication and customer service skills. o Must be able to work a flexible schedule. o Minimum twenty-five (25) years of age. o Must have a valid California driver's license for minimum of one (1) year. o Must satisfy contract requirements regarding DUI, reckless driving, felony, and misdemeanor convictions. o No more than one and a half (1.5) points on MVR at time of job application submission. o Participation in CTI's Random Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
