End of Assignment 7/25/26 Swing Shift | 3pm-11:30pm | Fri-Tue Position Description The Client Support Specialist assigned to the Pathway Home - Interim Housing program will be responsible for working directly with participants to meet their daily needs in a safe and secure environment. The program will provide Interim Housing Services (IHS) stabilization for eligible participants referred by the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) at the Pathway Home site in Santa Fe Springs until permanent housing placement is secured. This position will be responsible for program intake and client support for participants enrolled in the program. The Pathway Home Interim Housing Program provides a safe, low-barrier, Housing First, housing-focused, and supportive 24-hour interim housing service for adults experiencing homelessness. The Client Support Specialist is responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and verifying intake information and ensuring compliance with program eligibility guidelines. Additionally, the Client Support Specialist will provide direct support to participants, ensuring access to facilities and resources and offering support and crisis intervention as needed. This position is key to ensuring a safe and welcoming environment that meets the immediate needs of program participants.
Program Responsibilities:
Maintain a calm, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere at the Pathway Home facility, promoting a clean, orderly, and healthy environment at all times. Supervise daily operations of the interim housing program and provide support services to all participants, documenting all interactions and services in HMIS. Assist case management staff with participant support (e.g., dorm inspections, meeting reminders, and referrals). Conduct checks of bed areas, outdoor grounds, and common spaces to ensure program compliance. Monitor and document participant compliance with program rules and guidelines, including daily sign-in and curfew adherence. Coordinate on-site activities such as movie nights, dinners, and partner events. Address safety hazards and report irregularities such as security breaches, equipment damage, or unauthorized persons to the Program Manager. Provide conflict resolution through respectful communication and problem-solving strategies. Obtain and input required participant information into HMIS within 72 hours and maintain accurate participant case files. Assist participants in creating and working towards a Housing and Services Plan, including securing essential documents. Log, file, and enter participant data into HMIS, CHAMP, and other data systems. Process changes in participants' records as their status changes (e.g., income adjustments). Responsibilities Common to

Be proactive, creative, and flexible in evaluating and resolving issues. Organize and prioritize multiple activities to meet deadlines. Demonstrate respect and courtesy towards others.
Education/Experience/Training Required:
AA Degree or two years of experience in social services, hospitality, or healthcare, including experience dealing with substance use in clients and crisis intervention. Valid CA Driver's License, auto insurance, and reliable transportation. Must meet vehicle insurance requirements to be covered by First Day's Vehicle Insurance policy at all times while employed.
Preferred:
Two years of non-profit experience with the homeless population and/or case management.
Specific Skills Required/Desired Required:
Successful completion of background screening (including drug and alcohol screening) and an updated Tuberculosis Test (within the last 6 months).
Preferred:
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong documentation and organizational skills, including electronic and hard-copy record-keeping. Written and oral proficiency in Spanish. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to exercise mature and sound judgment as well as effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. Ability to work with diverse populations and provide services in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner. Ability to manage crisis situations with minimal supervision and maintain appropriate personal limits and boundaries. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, web-based programs, and Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) . Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times and execute confidentiality per HIPAA standards. Physical Demands & Work Environment The physical demands for this position include prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
