It is a General Law City with a Council/Manager form of government. Simi Valley encompasses an area of 41.7 square miles and is located in the southeast portion of Ventura County. The current estimated population is 126,414, yet Simi Valley maintains a unique balance of open space and City amenities. POSITION DETAILS
Temporary position Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Salary range:
$22.28- $28.44 hourly 3% Cost of Living adjustment increase effective 7/13/26 3% Cost of Living adjustment increase effective 7/12/27 Generally, salary placement is at the beginning of the salary range. Advanced placement may be granted depending on related education and experience.
NOTE:
The City recently completed a compensation study comparing its salary ranges with those of other local agencies. As a result, 87% of salary ranges will be adjusted upward at various intervals. As ranges are adjusted, job postings will be updated to reflect these changes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education/Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in accounting, customer service, or a related field.
Experience:
Two years of increasingly responsible customer service and clerical accounting experience.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills: Familiar with cash handling practices Knowledge and skills necessary to operate a cash register Clerical accounting experience in the areas of billing, collections, payment processing, and financial recordkeeping Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills (written and verbal) Excellent attention to detail Ability to work alone as well as in a team setting Self-starter Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced office environment
