Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Service Writer to join our marine service team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for customers bringing their boats in for maintenance and repairs. Your energetic approach will ensure a smooth flow of communication between customers, technicians, and management, creating a positive experience that keeps clients coming back. You will be responsible for accurately documenting issues, estimating repair costs, and coordinating service activities to deliver exceptional marine care. Responsibilities Greet customers warmly and listen attentively to understand their vessel concerns and service needs Write detailed service reports, including vessel diagnostics, mechanical issues, and recommended repairs Generate accurate marine estimates for repairs such as oil changes, vinyl repairs, transmissions, alignments, trailer repairs, annual services, weld repairs, prop rebuilds, and body repairs Coordinate with technicians to prioritize work orders and ensure timely completion of services Upsell additional maintenance or repair services that enhance vessel performance and safety Handle cash transactions and process payments efficiently while maintaining accurate records Communicate clearly with customers about repair progress, costs, and recommended follow-up services to foster trust and satisfaction Requirements Hands-on mechanic experience or marine diagnostics knowledge is highly desirable Excellent customer service skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly and professionally Familiarity with marine estimating software and sales techniques within an marine setting Mechanical knowledge covering vessel maintenance including oil changes, brake repair, transmissions, alignments, suspension systems, tire services, diesel engines, shocks & struts, air brake systems, and auto body repair Experience in marine service writing combined with a solid understanding of marine repair procedures Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Strong communication skills paired with a proactive attitude toward upselling additional services to meet customer needs Join our team as a Service Writer where your enthusiasm for boats and dedication to customer satisfaction will drive your success. $40,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
