Requires high school diploma. Diploma/Certification in Information Technology, Health Information or related field preferred. Experience:
Required Skills:
A minimum of 1 year of experience in Information Technology or job-related field. Experience in Healthcare IT is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, clinicians, administrators, and IT staff. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating sound judgment and discretion in a healthcare setting. Basic understanding of or willingness to learn healthcare privacy and security standards, including HIPAA and the appropriate handling of protected health information (PHI). Ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced, high-acuity healthcare environment. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and service excellence. By the conclusion of the internship, the intern will: Gain a foundational understanding of healthcare information systems, including how technology supports clinical care, patient safety, and operational efficiency. Learn best practices for healthcare data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance, including HIPAA principles. Develop practical skills in healthcare IT support, documentation, and project coordination. Improve professional communication skills within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment. Understand how IT governance, change management, and system reliability directly affect patient outcomes and organizational performance. Build real-world experience applicable to careers in healthcare IT, informatics, analytics, or systems administration. Physical Demands:
Work in largely sedentary, with occasional standing and walking. Reaches, handles, lifts and carries heavy books. Manuals and listings, which seldom exceed twenty pounds in weight. Works in a clean, well-lit, heated and ventilated office environment. May be required to work prolonged or irregular hours, attend occasional meetings. Hours are generally 8am to 5pm, but weekend and after-hours work is occasionally required. Performance Standards:
