Position Overview:
Claridge House, a boutique hotel nestled in the heart of Chicago's Gold Coast, is seeking a Guest Service Representative to join our dedicated front office team. The Guest Service Representative serves as the first and last point of contact for our guests, ensuring every stay is welcoming, seamless, and memorable. This role requires a strong commitment to reliability, accountability, and exceptional customer service, as our team members embody the warm, attentive, and professional spirit that defines Claridge House.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Interactions & Customer Service
  • Warmly greet all guests upon arrival, creating a welcoming first impression reflective of a luxury boutique property.
  • Check guests in and out efficiently, ensuring accuracy of reservations, payments, and preferences.
  • Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly to requests, and resolve concerns or complaints with empathy, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Provide knowledgeable recommendations for local dining, attractions, transportation, and entertainment in downtown Chicago.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of hotel services, amenities, hours of operation, and policies to accurately assist guests. Front Desk Operations
  • Accurately manage guest reservations, cancellations, modifications, and special requests using the property management system (PMS).
  • Process payments ensure balanced shift reports with precision.
  • Ensure the front desk remains organized, presentable, and welcoming at all times.
  • Monitor room availability, status, and special requests to support seamless operations.
  • Collaborate with housekeeping and maintenance teams to coordinate guest needs and resolve issues quickly. Accountability and Reliability
  • Consistently arrive on time and prepared to begin each scheduled shift.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality and protect guest privacy, records, and payment details.
  • Take full ownership of assigned tasks and guest interactions, following through until issues are resolved.
  • Maintain accuracy in documentation, reports, and logs to ensure smooth communication across shifts.
  • Support hotel policies, procedures, and brand standards. Qualifications
  • Previous hotel or front desk experience preferred; but not required
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for guest service.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a calm, professional demeanor under pressure.
  • Reliable, punctual, and accountable.
  • Proficient with property management systems (Opera), MS Office Suite, and basic computer operations preferred; but not required
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Comfortable with repetitive tasks such as typing, phone handling, and computer use.
