About Us Oakland Mobile Marine is a locally owned marine service company specializing in mobile boat repair and maintenance . We pride ourselves on dependable service, honest work, and building lasting relationships with boaters across Oakland/Lapeer County and surrounding lakes. Many of our customers have known our owners for years, and maintaining that trust through professional, accurate, and attentive service is extremely important to us. Position Overview We're looking for a Part-Time Customer Service & Operations Assistant who enjoys interacting with customers while helping keep daily operations organized and efficient. This role combines customer service, administrative tasks, and light operational support . This is not a desk-only position. The role requires regular movement throughout the day including organizing deliveries, carrying boxes, walking between office and shop areas, and occasionally assisting with heavier items such as boat batteries. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys staying active, taking initiative, and being part of a small, hardworking team. Because the boating industry is seasonal in Michigan, this position operates primarily from late March through early December . During the winter months when boating activity slows, regular hours are typically reduced or paused until the next season begins. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who: Enjoys staying busy and productive throughout the day Is comfortable working both in the office and around the shop Pays close attention to detail and takes pride in accurate work Is comfortable using computers and learning new software Is reliable, organized, and shows up ready to work Takes initiative to improve organization and workflow Works well with a small team and communicates professionally with customers Key Responsibilities Customer Support Answer incoming calls, emails, and messages from customers Assist customers with scheduling service appointments Greet and assist walk-in customers professionally Provide updates and respond to service inquiries Administrative Support Create and manage work orders accurately Maintain service schedules and calendars Assist with invoicing using QuickBooks Online Maintain accurate customer records and perform data entry Conduct follow-up calls with customers after service appointments Operational Support Receive and organize deliveries Restock office and shop supplies Organize files, work orders, and documentation Assist with maintaining a clean and organized workspace Attention to Detail & Customer Care Because many of our customers have worked with our company for years, accuracy and attention to detail are critical in this role . Work orders, scheduling, and communication must be handled carefully to ensure customers receive the high level of service they expect from our team. Look for ways to improve organization and workflow Help maintain an efficient office and shop environment Identify small improvements that make daily operations easier Take pride in supporting both the team and our customers Technology & Computer Skills This role requires someone who is comfortable with technology and learning new systems quickly.
Preferred experience includes:
QuickBooks Online (or similar accounting software) Google Workspace or Microsoft Office Data entry and customer management systems General computer skills and digital organization Physical Requirements Applicants should be comfortable with: Being on their feet for extended periods Walking between office and shop areas Carrying deliveries and organizing supplies Lifting boxes or materials (approximately 40-50 lbs) Occasionally assisting with moving boat batteries (with help if needed) Join us in creating memorable experiences for our customers while developing your skills in a supportive environment!
