Primary Purpose:
To provide fast, easy, flexible and friendly service to our customers through the achievement of Food Lion customer service standards. To be friendly, courteous and cooperative with other store associates. Responsible for assisting the Customer Service Manager and the Assistant Customer Service Manager in maintaining standards according to Front End Standard Practices, maximizing sales through excellent customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Smile, greet each customer and provide prompt, accurate and friendly service while engaging with customers to create a personalized checkout experienceGuide customers to an open SCO register, supporting the SCO experience from start to finish, moving throughout the SCO area being attentive and invitingUse Mobile Attendants, as needed, observing customers in service of Fast and EasyNavigate customer flow being aware of the customer's shopping tripAssist customers on how to use Self-checkouts properly including use of the hand scanner for a Fast and Easy checkout experienceRespond timely to customer inquiries and self-checkout system notifications, including Ever seen if applicable, in support of a hassle-free shopping tripMonitor multiple self-checkouts for proper customer usage including the accurate scanning of each itemRemind customers of items located on the bottom of the cart or items under baby seats prior to them completing the transactionWhen needed, assist in scanning the customer's order and provide instructions on payment ensuring payment has properly processedComplete self-checkout voids, age restricted item verifications, Ever seen support (as needed) and any other SCO assist function in accordance with Front End Standard PracticeAvoid personal conversations with other associates when customers are presentFollow procedures in handling proper acceptance and payment processing at self-checkout for checks, coupons, etc.

Maintain alertness and call for assistance when needed to service customers per service standardsEngage and identify self-checkout customers needing assistanceIs courteous and helpful to other associates and customersWear the Food Lion uniform, complete with name badge, when on duty, has a neat and clean appearance while adhering to Food Lion dress codeCollect and return shopping carts from the self-checkout areaEnsure the self-checkout area has a neat and clean presentationReport any self-checkout issues to the Customer Service Manager or MODAdherent to all company guidelines, policies and standard practicesAbility to perform troubleshooting steps on self-checkout as neededObserve and correct all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidentsNotify QA of any cleaning issues or maintenance required on front endSuccessfully complete computer-based training (CBT) and training aid coursesEnsure self-checkouts are supplied with proper bagsPerform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent preferredEffective communication and customer service skillsAbility and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the jobMust meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functionsMust be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation
