Pet Adoption Team Member & Customer Care - Adoption Center (Hopewell, NY)

OVERVIEW

If you love animals, people, and helping families find their new best friend, this is it. We are looking for an energetic Pet Adoption Team Member & Customer Care Associate to join our pack at FurEver Friends in Hopewell, NY. Our store focuses on adoptions, rescue partnerships, and customer care . You'll guide families through the adoption process (we do NOT sell puppies), help match the right animal to the right home, keep the animals happy and healthy, and make every visit a warm and welcoming experience. We've seen great success with people from fitness (personal trainers, yoga instructors, gym staff), retail, hospitality, fast food, automotive, roofing, real estate, and veterinary or animal care—anyone who knows how to connect with people and deliver outstanding service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet customers with positive energy and friendly professionalism. Guide families through the adoption process , explaining requirements, policies, and next steps. Help match animals to homes based on lifestyle, family needs, and experience. Clean and care for animals daily , including feeding, bathing as needed, cleaning kennels, socializing, and monitoring health and behavior. Answer phone calls and provide excellent customer service over the phone. Book appointments for any of our services (adoptions, training, grooming, or other in-store services). Maintain a clean, organized adoption center and spotless kennel areas. Restock shelves, face products, and merchandise pet items such as food, toys, treats, and accessories. Assist with customer transactions for adoption fees and pet supplies and maintain accuracy in the POS system. Follow company and state guidelines to ensure safe, ethical, and transparent adoptions. Work closely with teammates to create a fun, efficient, and customer-focused environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in retail, customer service, or animal care preferred but not required. Strong communication and people skills. Reliable, punctual, and willing to work flexible hours, including weekends. Comfortable with cleaning, stocking, and hands-on animal care. Passion for animals and helping families experience joyful, responsible adoptions. Training is provided.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Competitive pay: $16.50-$17.00 per hour , depending on experience. 401(k) with company match. Employee discounts on products and services. Training and growth opportunities in a fun, pet-focused environment.
