Job Description

The Service Writer maintains accurate and timely reports relative to the Shop's operation within the company. This roll will facilitate the proper and timely servicing of company-owned fleet. The Service Writer will be the liaison between the shop and the Main Office. The Service Writer will be a highly organized and customer-oriented person. They will coordinate truck repairs, maintenance, order parts, assist with special orders, and be responsible for the overall coordination of the shop operations. The schedule will be Thursday - Monday, with Tuesday and Wednesday off. Shop hours are 8am to 4:30 pm. General Duties
  • Initiates services and repairs by ascertaining performance problems.
  • Coordinate road call requirements, under the supervision of the Service Manager, with follow-up to ensure work is performed in a timely manner, while making arrangements to facilitate the road call.
  • Verifies and, writes repair orders and maintains all records, T Card creation (maintenance and pm services)
  • Maintain organization of parts and supplies to enable quick location of items.
  • Responsible for internal parts orders and specialty items.
  • Works closely with Dealerships and Vendors who are servicing LWT Tractors and provides updates as needed.
  • Works closely with Dispatch to provide updates on equipment.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly reports providing management with the status of all Tractors.
  • Monitoring DVIR and other incoming correspondence, such as driver calls and write ups.
  • Performs daily yard checks.
  • Assists in New Driver Orientation by ensuring new drivers are comfortable and familiar with their units.
  • Maintains and verifies documentation for each Tractor.
  • Perform Inservice duties for new drivers, as well as termination sheets for termed drivers.
  • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
  • Requires firm mechanical understanding of trucks and trailers.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Computer skills a plus.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and exceptional customer service skills and always maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Must have the ability to interpret driver needs by carefully listening and understanding their requirements.
  • Must have a professional, service-oriented attitude at all times.
  • Must be able to multi-task effectively.
  • Must always be Safe.
  • Highly motivated with organizational skills and self-driven with good time management skills.
Typical Environment Conditions:
  • Shop and outside environment with exposure to adverse weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, dust, dirt and noise.
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
