Job Description

Martin Regional Library is a vibrant community center for all of east Tulsa. The library offers bilingual storytimes, a large family play area, three meeting rooms, and individualized technology instruction through our Book-a-Librarian program. Spanish-speaking staff are available to assist customers at any time the library is open. The Bilingual Customer Service Assistant primarily serves children and families in the Children's Area.   • Bilingual positions qualify for a pay bonus awarded quarterly.
Status:
Part time 20 hours/week
A Selection of Qualifications & Essential Functions Include:
Ability to speak/read/write in both Spanish and English is required . Provides general information in person and by phone assisting customers in locating and discovering materials, connecting with available library services, or providing information about the library, referring reference questions to the appropriate resource; Registers customers by issuing and updating library cards; May help customers with basic technology and Internet problems; Ability to help customers with their basic computer needs, including e-mail, answering Microsoft product questions, and navigating the Internet. Ability to learn and demonstrate library's automated systems and self-service tools. Ability to operate audio-visual equipment, smart phones, mobile devices, computer hardware and software, and quickly learn new databases and consumer devices including (and not limited to) e-readers, tablets and personal computers. High school diploma or G.E.D. required.

Rotating Saturdays and Sundays Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Work occasionally requires stooping and bending. Occasional light lifting such as three or four reams of paper, four or five books, or other materials (up to 20 pounds) may be required. There are usually no major sources of discomfort; work is essentially conducted in a normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature, and air conditions. Some positions require considerable physical exertion, such as regularly lifting heavy items (up to 80 pounds) such as carts or crates full of books, on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions.
