Customer Service Cashier #1

Cockerham #1 located at 603 East Stuart Drive Galax, VA is looking for a part-time Customer Service Cashier. Cockerham is a 3rd generation, locally owned and operated, business owning and operating 8 convenience stores (Galax, Hillsville, & Fancy Gap, VA), Hampton Inn and the Pizza Inn/TCBY in Hillsville, VA plus provides a full line of propane and petroleum products to residential and commercial customers in Virginia and North Carolina.

Primary Job Duties:

Provides fast and efficient service Operate electronic cash register by ringing transactions, collecting money or processing credit card transactions Uses other equipment to process transactions such as EBT purchases and lottery/lotto sales Check ID's for age restricted items (Cigarettes, lottery/lotto, etc.) Stocking shelves and cooler while rotating product Removes all damages and out of code merchandise from the shelves Clean all areas, using proper cleaning procedures and materials, including (but not limited to) counter tops, microwaves, shelves, floors, windows, cooler doors, food service equipment, restrooms, and parking lots Check in vendors as needed following company guidelines Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned to accommodate store operational needs

Requirements and Skills:

Must be 21 years of age or older Be able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 30 pounds with or without assistance Experience in retail environment Reliable and accountable Flexibility with scheduling Must be able to work first and second shift
