We are currently seeking a team member for part time (3 days per week, ~20-24 hours per week) employment, with the ability to offer flex coverage during the summer. There is also the potential for additional hours up to 40 total per week, should the need arise in the future. Shift availability between 9:30am and 8:30pm is required, and shift starting/ending times and lengths may vary depending on the day, with some potential flexibility for shifts ranging from 7-10 hours per day depending on the store's needs and the candidate's preferences. All candidates must be available to work consistently on Sundays; we cannot accommodate requests for weekday-only shifts. The position itself is not a temporary or seasonal/summer one; we value long-term employees and work hard to take care of our staff, so we are seeking someone who is interested in a longer-term position. The successful candidate will also have the following skills and qualifications: Strong preference of 6-12 months minimum in retail, customer service, food service or pet-related work with a significant customer service element. An outgoing (extrovert or ambivert) personality with the ability to engage proactively and thoughtfully with customers. A motivated, self-starter attitude and an interest in working in a collaborative and supportive team environment. Must own/live with and be a primary caregiver for at least one dog or cat; this means that you are directly involved with the care and feeding of the pet(s)) on a daily basis, are at least partly financially responsible for them, and are a primary decision-maker about their diet, health and enrichment. Must also be open to trying different kinds of healthy food, treats and enrichment products provided by the store and vendors. Must have an interest in learning all about pet nutrition and be passionate about animals and their health. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to lift at least 40lb and perform physical tasks including bending down and climbing 6' ladders. Must have reliable transportation to Mill Creek. Must be able to work shifts that will include morning, afternoon and evening times, and include one or both weekend days. Must be able to work during the November and December holiday season, when we are busiest, including Black Friday/Small Business Saturday weekend, and the two weeks leading up to Christmas.
