Job Description

Job Overview The Service Writer acts as the primary point of contact for customers bringing their vehicles in for service or repair. They facilitate clear communication between customers and the service technicians, ensuring a smooth and efficient service experience. The Service Writer is responsible for documenting customer concerns, preparing work orders, scheduling appointments, and providing accurate cost estimates while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. Duties Greet customers and listen to their vehicle concerns to accurately document their needs. Explain automotive issues and recommended repairs in clear, understandable terms. Prepare and review detailed work orders for technicians, including parts, labor, and diagnostic information. Provide cost estimates and obtain customer authorization before proceeding with repairs. Schedule service appointments and prioritize workload to optimize the service department's efficiency. Communicate effectively with technicians regarding service completion times and any additional customer concerns. Follow up with customers after services are completed to ensure satisfaction. Maintain accurate records of service transactions and customer communications. Promote additional services and maintenance work appropriately, respecting customer needs and budget. Uphold dealership policies, procedures, and standards for customer service. Qualifications Previous experience in an automotive service department or related customer service role preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to explain technical information in an understandable manner. Organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency with dealership management systems and computer skills. Professional appearance and attitude.
Working Conditions:
Typical working hours include weekdays based on dealership hours. Fast-paced environment requiring multitasking and adaptability.
