Job Description

$11.48 - $13.32 Dependent on experience and qualifications. Part-Time, Non-Benefited Must be available in the afternoons, evenings, and on weekends. The Customer Operations Specialist supports both the facility floor and front desk operations at the Laramie Recreation Center. This mid-level position works under the supervision of recreation staff to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patrons. Responsibilities include performing detailed cleaning tasks, assisting customers in person and over the phone, supporting daily facility operations, and enforcing policies that promote safety and respectful behavior.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide excellent customer service to all patrons and program participants. Perform and maintain high standards in daily cleaning tasks, including restrooms, locker rooms, fitness areas, and public spaces. Assist front desk tasks by using recreation software to register participants, process payments, manage accounts, and answer inquiries. Assist with facility operations, including opening and closing procedures, as well as setup and teardown for programs and events. Monitor facility use to ensure proper behavior and enforce safety policies as needed. Report maintenance issues and coordinate with support staff across shifts.
Qualifications and Requirements:
A combination of the following experience and training would be qualifying. Strong customer service skills, both in-person and over the phone. Willingness and ability to perform thorough cleaning tasks using light equipment (such as vacuums, electric mops, etc.). Comfort with learning and using computer systems for scheduling, registration, and cash handling. Reliable and independent work ethic. Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, team-focused setting. First Aid and CPR/AED certification are required (training will be provided for the successful candidate).
Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma or its equivalent. Previous experience in recreation, hospitality, or public service environments. Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and safety protocols in a facility setting. Experience engaging with diverse groups, including children, seniors, and families. Excellent communication skills and the ability to stay enthusiastic in customer-facing situations.
Working Conditions:
Ability to sit, kneel, squat, twist, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.; occasional pushing and pulling up to 100 lbs. Ability to stand for long periods and walk significant distances during the shift (up to 20,000 steps/day). Work might include exposure to cleaning agents, dust, chemicals, and body fluids. May involve outdoor work and traveling between sites.
