Key Responsibilities:
Perform visual, dimensional, and layout inspections of fabricated steel components. Monitor welding parameters and welder qualifications to ensure compliance with WPS and codes. Conduct non-destructive testing (VT, MT, PT, UT) and bolt rotational capacity tests. Maintain precise QC logs and documentation, coordinating hold points with external inspectors. Collaborate directly with production teams, providing real-time quality decisions and support. Utilize tools like Total Stations for verification and ensure all work meets fracture-critical and other AISC endorsements.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Must-Have:
Current AWS CWI or ASNT VT Level II certification. Strong ability to read blueprints and interpret welding codes (AWS
D1.1/D1.5
). Proficiency with standard measurement tools and a keen, detail-oriented eye. Experience in a steel fabrication shop environment is highly preferred.
Bonus Certifications:
ASNT MT Level
II, ASNT UT
Level II, or
NACE/SSPC BCI
Level I will significantly increase your earning potential. You are a team-oriented, proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills.
