Dairy Feed Operator

Overview The primary role of the feed operator is to provide consistent, quality feed to dairy cows for efficient and cost effective conversion of feed to milk production at Fullerton Farms. This person is responsible for management of feed programs, as well as upkeep and maintenance of feed and other equipment. Qualifications Must be able to operate feed and manure management equipment, including but not limited to tractors, trucks (including feed truck), mixer wagons, pay loaders, and skid steers. Must be reliable and timely Ability to work independently Willingness to work in a team, and displays driven, quality work ethic. Must be able to use calculator to add/subtract/multiply/divide. Maintenance and repair knowledge a plus. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Duties Daily delivery of feed to dairy cows, including but not limited to feeding cows, assisting with nutritional adjustments, data collection and tracking, cost reduction initiatives, feed quality sampling, basic feed equipment maintenance. Assistance with nutrient management program. Operating feed and manure equipment as needed. Data collection and entry of daily feed inputs with feed management software, manure management, as well as tracking to goals. Assistance with basic maintenance of feed and manure equipment. Assistance with herd management, including moving cows Support cost reduction initiatives; assist with bringing new ideas to the team Other duties as requested Relationships Feed operator will report to the general manager. Works closely and communicates daily with general manager; and herdsperson. Works with nutritionist, crop manager, shop manager, and others as needed. Hours 48 hours/week (4AM-12PM), up to 70 hrs/week if desired. 6 days/week, can be flexible for the right candidate. Compensation Hourly wage, with starting range of $23/hr or more, based on qualifications. Housing available.
