Riverview is seeking a Data Engineer to help accelerate the movement of priority data sources from raw ingestion into clean, validated, trusted, business-ready datasets. This role will focus on backend data pipeline development, integrations, data cleaning, transformation, validation, and ongoing pipeline maintenance. Success in this role means helping Riverview reduce its current data source backlog, improve pipeline reliability, utilizing artificial intelligence, and make data more usable for to reporting teams and business units across the company.Key Responsibilities:
Build and maintain data pipelines that ingest data from APIs, databases, CSVs, PDFs, file-based sources, vendor systems, and other operational platforms. Clean, transform, validate, and structure data so it can move through Riverview's data architecture into trusted business-ready layers. Support Riverview's Microsoft Fabric and medallion-style data environment by helping move sources from raw ingestion toward usable reporting datasets. Troubleshoot and repair broken pipelines when source systems, files, vendors, or business requirements change. Work with internal developers, business-unit leaders, and reporting users to understand source data, business rules, and expected outputs. Document pipeline logic, data definitions, source-system dependencies, and maintenance needs to improve long-term reliability. Help prioritize and complete high-value data sources while supporting future data needs from new systems, including the Stevens Milk Plant.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience will also be considered. 2+ years of experience building data pipelines, data integrations, ETL/ELT processes, or backend data workflows. Strong SQL skills and experience transforming, cleaning, validating, and structuring data. Experience working with APIs, databases, flat files, and other common source-system integration methods. Familiarity with cloud data platforms, data lakehouse concepts, or medallion-style architecture. Ability to troubleshoot pipeline failures, source-system changes, data quality issues, and performance problems. Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical teammates and business users. Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Python, Spark, or similar tools is a plus.
