Job Description

Maintenance Tech - Components Department At States Industries, our Maintenance Tech play a critical role in keeping our highly automated manufacturing equipment running safely and efficiently. This position is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex systems, working independently, and driving continuous improvement. This is a highly autonomous role, with approximately 90% of your time spent working independently and 10% collaborating with fellow millwrights, electricians, operators, and equipment manufacturers . What You'll Do As a Maintenance Tech you will provide mechanical, electrical, and programming support for production equipment throughout our Components operation.
Responsibilities include:
Troubleshoot and repair PLC, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems. Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on automated production equipment. Replace bearings, sensors, switches, photo eyes, and related components. Weld and fabricate brackets, guards, and other machine parts. Assist with installation, commissioning, and programming of new equipment. Communicate with OEMs and vendors to resolve equipment issues and manage warranty documentation. Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules. Support machine setup and process improvements to improve reliability and efficiency. Train operators and team members on equipment operation and maintenance best practices. Follow all safety requirements, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO). Maintain your own set of tools. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing environment with exposure to: High noise levels Wood dust Forklift and pedestrian traffic Moving mechanical equipment Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection and safety glasses, is required at all times. Preferred Experience We strongly prefer candidates with experience maintaining and troubleshooting the following equipment and systems: Robotics and automated material handling systems CNC machines and CNC programming Edge banders Moulders Automated conveyors and controls Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs Pneumatic and hydraulic systems Welding and light fabrication Experience in a woodworking or manufacturing environment is highly desirable. What We're Looking For Minimum of 3 years of Millwright or industrial maintenance experience Strong electrical and PLC troubleshooting skills Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC systems Ability to read blueprints and schematics Experience with preventive maintenance programs Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Valid driver's license Forklift experience or ability to become certified Strong attention to detail and urgency when responding to equipment downtime Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Physical Requirements Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed Lift up to 50 pounds Use hands and arms for tool and equipment operation
