Job Description

Kids 1st Daycare LLC (2.0) is seeking a dedicated, organized, and compassionate Daycare Director to lead our childcare program with excellence. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about early childhood education, thrives in a leadership position, and is committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally rich environment for children. As our Director, you will oversee daily operations, support staff, partner with families, and ensure full compliance with North Dakota licensing requirements. You will play a key role in shaping the culture, quality, and success of our program. What You'll Do Leadership & Staff Support Supervise and support Daycare Associates, Leads, and Assistants Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback Create bi‑weekly staff schedules and maintain fair, consistent staffing practices Coordinate required staff training and onboarding Child Development & Program Quality Develop and implement daily routines and age‑appropriate learning activities Support children's social, emotional, and developmental needs Coordinate with Early Intervention, Inclusion Support, and other specialists Maintain a positive, engaging, and safe learning environment Family & Community Engagement Build strong relationships with families Lead parent meetings regarding concerns, incidents, or developmental updates Create and distribute monthly newsletters Maintain communication boards and required postings Licensing, Safety & Compliance Ensure full compliance with ND childcare laws and licensing requirements Maintain all required documentation in the licensing portal Report incidents to the State Licensor Coordinate inspections and maintain safety standards Operations & Administration Manage attendance schedules and maintain ratio compliance Maintain Brightwheel accounts and physical files Oversee meal planning, grocery ordering, and food program requirements Manage mail, deliveries, and general administrative tasks Financial & Billing Management Oversee payroll hours and timecard accuracy Submit Childcare Assistance Program payments Invoice families for tuition and subsidies Track expenses, maintain spreadsheets, and support budget management Research and purchase supplies within budget What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree preferred (or equivalent experience) 1-3 years of experience working with children in a lead or supervisory role 1-3 years of staff supervision experience Strong communication and organizational skills Knowledge of child development and behavior patterns Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with professionalism Understanding of ND childcare licensing regulations Completion of Pediatric CPR/First Aid/AED, ND Mandated Reporter, and Getting Started training (or willingness to obtain) Must pass a state‑regulated background check Valid driver's license and insurable driving record Must be at least 18 years old Why Join Us?
