Job Description
Job Description Quantum General Contractors, Inc. offers competitive salary, dental/vision/health insurance plans, as well as paid time off. We also include comprehensive safety and operational training upon hire. Founded in 2004, we are a commercial general contractor who most commonly performs remodel projects for retail stores, along with a lengthy track record of public and private projects of all kinds. We are looking to expand our team of full-time traveling day and night superintendents.
Position Summary:
Responsible for supervision of all construction remodel project activities staying within the established budget and schedule, following established company policies and safety requirements and rules, and treating Owners, subcontractors, and subordinates professionally and consistently. The Superintendent position maintains a stable, safe, efficient, and pleasant work environment, helping to ensure the company's success and the establishment of a long-term customer partnership with the companies we work for.Essential Duties & Responsibilities Superintendent/Project Manager Oversight:
Manage and support project managers and superintendents, ensuring projects remain on track and providing direct assistance or coverage as needed.Travel Requirements:
Travel as required to project sites to address challenges, realign timelines, and provide onsite support to superintendents.Project Coordination:
Review and interpret drawings and specifications with expertise. Ensure equipment submittals and material lists align with project requirements across all trades.Logistics Management:
Coordinate material procurement and container deliveries to project sites. Assist with estimating and planning streamline operations.Collaboration:
Work closely with project managers to ensure all logistical and physical aspects of construction align with project goals.Budget & Schedule Compliance:
Monitor progress to maintain budget adherence and project schedules. Promote a safe, clean, and respectful construction environment at all times. Plan and supervise the activities of Facilities Trades personnel concerning station construction and installation projects, and/or construction and maintenance of remote research support facilities. Supervise and perform hands-on tasks on construction and installation projects following project plans, specifications, and schedules. Perform material take-offs, project planning, coordination, and scheduling. Create project schedules and updates, progress reports, and completion reports in electronic format as required. Regularly update the Project Manager, Construction Manager, and Operations Manager on the status of projects and other activities. Assist in developing plans and schedules for construction projects. Coordinate tasking, labor, and materials with Facilities work centers, other departments, and project/construction coordinators. Report project progress concerning project schedules and update schedules at required intervals. Identify required design and specification changes prior to construction. May perform construction-related tasks in and around undeveloped and remote areas as well as in adverse conditions. Accomplish various projects through the creation and utilization of design drawings and specifications. Perform tasks requiring repeated heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, digging, hauling, standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, and squatting. Maintain effective communication between departments and represent the department as needed at operational meetings. Advise supervisor of job progress, material/labor requirements, and personnel matters. Accomplish tasks utilizing design drawings, specifications, and diagrams. Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), suggest revisions as needed, and create SOPs as directed. Perform outdoors in environmentally challenging conditions, including wind and extremely cold weather. Routinely utilize independent judgment and discretion to identify potential issues and solve problems. Proactively identify any unsafe conditions, hazards, or Code violations and communicate them effectively. Work directly with other departments to plan and complete tasking. Learn and effectively utilize computer-based labor, material, and maintenance tracking applications. Evaluate labor and material needs for tasking and assign duties to subordinate staff as appropriate. Interpret schedules, design drawings, specifications, and diagrams to carry out tasking. Inspect worksites and evaluate staff tasks as required. Evaluate and identify job hazards and effectively communicate information to staff verbally and in writing through various venues, including weekly and daily meetings. Provide suggestions and recommendations for re-hiring, termination, and advancement of staff. Works with Human Resources (HR) to address conflict or personnel issues as they arise . Handle confidential matters (personnel actions, management reports, etc.) in accordance with management policy and with the highest degree of professionalism, and involve HR when appropriate. Communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, with appropriate individuals as needed to relay information they need in order to be successful in their jobs. Assist with the ordering of resupply materials for the department to maintain adequate inventory on station. Occasionally utilize the assistance of office personnel to complete non-field-related tasks. Comply with allOSHA, ASC
Environmental, Safety and Health (ESH), Waste Management, and Quality Assurance requirements. Implement and maintain the Work Safety Program Perform other duties as required Department Expectations Acts as a role model and leader within and outside of the department Demonstrates and models strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive situations with all partners Maintains a positive and respectful attitude Adheres to company policies and procedures Be dependable and accountable for actions Display excellent organizational skills and initiative to improve processes Communicate regularly to Project Managers, Construction Managers, suppliers, subcontractors, AOR/Engineers and Owner representatives Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management skills and ability to work independently and prioritize work Maintain knowledge of industry trends and help ensure the company's compliance Exhibit regular and reliable attendance at work Job Skills, Ability, and Experience 2 years minimum experience working in commercial construction as Field Superintendent OSHA 30-Hour Certification will be given precedence Must be able to write detailed daily reports, 3-day look-ahead schedules, daily to-do schedules for trades, and work unsupervised Must have a good understanding of construction and trades, read and understand blueprints, read and understand specifications and shop drawings, and the ability to work professionally with subcontractors and store management May be required to travel to project work sites and may be required to work on nights, weekends, and holidays rotational on-call work if necessary. Experience in project planning, scheduling, and cost estimating Experience in construction and maintenance of commercial and/or industrial facilities Ability to read and interpret design blueprint drawings, specifications, and diagrams Possess the competencies, willingness, and ability to perform the duties of the position Ability to manage logistics and oversee multiple projects simultaneously. Strong leadership and communication skills to foster collaboration among teams. Those with Walmart and/or Sam's Club Remodel and Expansion experience will be given special consideration.
