Major Duties:
Duties below are sted the WG-12 level. Duties include, but are not limited to: Maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair diverse vendor smoke and he fire alarm systems and devices. Assist contractors to loce and install system components ranging in complexity from the older electrical and analog devices to the newer moderely complex digital computer-controlled systems requiring some programming. Replace defective sensors and circuit control boards consisting of various electronic and electrical relays. Inspect, maintain, clean, repair, bench test, perform functional tests and adjust the specified accuracy of a variety of equipment and circuitry, such as hard wire alarm transceivers, control consoles, printed circuit boards and cards, VHF antennas, electrical buzzers, bell circuits, fire alarm clocks, rheosts, thermosts and smoke detectors. Work from verbal instructions, work orders, blueprints, schemics, maintenance schedules and inspection schedules to perform maintenance, diagnose system or equipment malfunctions, make repairs and replace equipment as required. Evalue the fire alarm system module, component, device and circuit failures. Isoles the system failure and replaces the defective part or component, minimizing downtime and restoring circuit integrity in a timely manner. Provide support for nightly sprinkler and fire alarm testing, additions to, upgrading of, and maintenance and repair of fire alarm equipment. Assist with the changeover from hard ware systems to an addressable, multiplex system. Install new circuits and communicion loop routes and connections. Assists contractors in identifying and finding circuitry. Install or assist contractors to install new systems or upgrades of existing fire protection devices and systems. Provide technical support to Fire Protection Engineers in solving problems/breakdowns found in test programs. Perform connection, test and restorion work on fire protection systems and/or earlier assigned systems requiring major adjustments. Provide expertise on the lest and most technologically complex electronic systems. Examine, troubleshoot, overhaul and test electronic equipment and complete operional systems involved with an assortment of construction, maintenance, repair and renovion projects. Troubleshoot the cause of operional problems on novel or improved systems when technical specificions are inadeque. Identify problems in designs and guidelines.
