Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make an impact as a dedicated professional supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a thriving school environment near scenic Signal Mountain, TN. This full-time, contract opportunity runs from August 5, 2026, through May 19, 2027, and offers the chance to foster communication and learning for diverse learners. You'll serve in a dynamic educational setting, with assignments and caseloads tailored once district numbers are confirmed for the upcoming school year.
Key Qualifications:
Current, active DOE Teaching Certification (Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement required) Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (previous K-12 school-based exposure strongly preferred) Strong communication, advocacy, and collaboration skills Ability to travel between assigned school campuses within the Chattanooga area, as required Successful completion of fingerprints and all required background checks before start date Aptitude for adapting learning strategies to meet individual educational needs
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver direct and individualized instructional services to students across various age groups (specific caseload and age range to be provided upon district confirmation) Consult and collaborate with general educators, related service providers, and families to ensure full support of student goals Contribute to the development and implementation of IEPs, ensuring compliance and best practices Foster an accessible, inclusive classroom environment, implementing assistive technologies and accommodations as needed Participate in ongoing professional development and district-led initiatives If you are committed to empowering students and passionate about fostering inclusive education for those with hearing differences, this contract role could be your next meaningful career step.
