Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic automotive team as a Dealership Parts Manager, where you will lead the parts department with energy and expertise! This vital role involves overseeing inventory control, supplier relationships, and procurement processes to ensure seamless operations that keep our dealership running smoothly. As a key player in our service and repair operations, you'll drive efficiency, optimize supply chain management, and deliver exceptional customer service. Responsibilities Manage the entire parts inventory, including ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution to ensure optimal stock levels. Develop and maintain strong relationships with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) suppliers and other vendors to secure quality parts at competitive prices. Coordinate with automotive service teams to fulfill parts requests promptly, supporting efficient vehicle repairs and maintenance. Utilize ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems and order management software to track inventory levels, process purchase orders, and manage supply chain logistics. Oversee shipping & receiving activities, ensuring accurate documentation and timely delivery of parts. Implement warehouse management best practices to improve inventory accuracy and reduce waste or loss. Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to maximize value while maintaining quality standards. Lead demand planning efforts by analyzing sales trends and forecasting future parts needs to prevent shortages or overstock situations. Supervise staff involved in procurement management, data entry, inventory control, and logistics operations. Ensure compliance with safety regulations related to equipment repair (including HVAC and automotive repair tools) and warehouse procedures. Skills Extensive knowledge of supply chain management principles within an automotive dealership environment. Proven experience managing supplier relationships and negotiating favorable terms. Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive diagnostics, auto body repair, OEM parts specifications, and equipment repair processes. Proficiency with warehouse management systems, ERP platforms such as AS400 or similar software, and procurement tools like CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Familiarity with inventory management techniques including demand planning, sourcing strategies, order management systems, shipping & receiving protocols. Ability to operate forklifts safely; certification preferred. Excellent customer service skills combined with effective communication abilities for internal teams and external vendors. Experience working within dealership settings or automotive service environments is highly desirable. Data entry accuracy combined with attention to detail for inventory control records. Knowledge of logistics processes including shipping & receiving procedures aligned with OEM standards.
