Job Description
Position Summary:
Salary Position. The Dedicated Fleet Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing the daily schedules of Dedicated drivers and trucks to ensure timely, efficient, and safe delivery of freight. This role serves as a key point of communication between drivers, customers, and internal departments to ensure operational excellence and customer satisfaction.Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, dispatch, and monitor driver assignments for a fleet of trucks based on load availability, customer requirements, and DOT regulations.
- Track and manage freight movements using transportation management systems (TMS), GPS, and ELD software.
- Communicate effectively with drivers to relay load information, route changes, pickup/drop times, and instructions.
- Monitor driver hours of service (HOS) to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
- Respond to service disruptions, delays, or emergencies and adjust schedules as needed.
- Coordinate with vendors to ensure equipment readiness and downtime management.
- Maintain accurate and real-time records of dispatches, driver activities, and load documentation (IOD's, POD's BOL's, etc…).
- Collaborate with customer service and logistics teams to meet delivery expectations.
- Build positive relationships with drivers, providing support and feedback to maximize performance and retention.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in logistics or transportation a plus).
- 1-3 years of experience in trucking dispatch or fleet coordination preferred.
- Strong knowledge of
DOT/FMCSA
regulations and Hours of Service rules.- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office (Excel), Google Docs, etc..)
- Experience with TMS, ELD, and routing systems (e.g., McLeod, Samsara, Omnitracs, etc.).
- Excellent communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
