Delivery Coordinator

Job Description:

This role is responsible for the day-to-day scheduling of flatbed and LTL shipments, negotiating rates with third-party carriers, verifying drivers' logs, ensuring shipment accuracy, and resolving any issues. The Delivery Coordinator works closely with the Operations, Production, and Territory Managers, as well as plant personnel, to ensure customer needs are met. This position serves as a critical support mechanism for efficient shipping operations, providing optimal service across all areas of the business.

Essential Functions :

Load Planning:

Coordinate with production and CSR's for order completion dates on orders that need shipped.

Assignment:

Find and assign freight based on driver availability, location, and rates.

Route Optimization:

Utilize GPS and routing software to identify the most cost-effective and efficient paths.

Driver Coordination:

Provide drivers with delivery instructions and necessary documentation.

Communication:

Contacts customer to schedule deliveries, as well as, updating customers on delivery status and address delays (traffic, weather).

Compliance Management:

Ensure drivers adhere to Hours of Service (HOS) and safety regulations.

Competencies:

Technology:

Proficiency with Transportation Management Software (TMS), GPS tracking, ERP system, and Microsoft Office.

Communication:

Excellent verbal and written skills to manage relationships with drivers and customers.

Problem-Solving:

Ability to handle high-stress situations, such as breakdowns or last-minute cancellations.

Knowledge:

Understanding of DOT regulations and, local, state, and national traffic laws

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Minimum hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30 p.m.

Required Education and Experience:

Experience:

Previous experience as a dispatcher, driver, or in logistics is highly preferred.

Education:

High School degree or equivalent,
