Dental Assistant

Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all dental equipment is ready for procedures, including X-ray machines and 3D scanners. Assist dentists and hygienests chairside during a variety of treatments such as restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, cleanings and pediatric dentistry. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) Dentrix , updating medical and dental histories accurately. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and explain procedures using clear dental terminology. Perform vital signs checks and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, maintaining aseptic technique and infection control standards. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and managing medical documentation. Qualifications Proven experience in dental assisting within a general dentistry or specialty setting such as prosthodontics or pediatrics. Proficiency with dental software systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and coding. Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and anatomy relevant to dental procedures. Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely while adhering to HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and working with children is a plus. Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical imaging techniques.
