Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring efficient workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and maintained according to aseptic technique standards. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), including digital imaging with 3D scanners when applicable, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and medical coding. Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to promote a positive experience. Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing patient flow efficiently. Maintain infection control protocols and ensure all clinical areas meet OSHA standards for safety and cleanliness. Demonstrate strong knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy to assist with patient education and treatment explanations. Experience xray license and coronal polishing certificate required Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix is essential for managing patient records effectively. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical documentation, and medical coding enhances your ability to support comprehensive patient care. Knowledge of infection control procedures, aseptic technique, and sterilization processes is required to maintain a safe clinical environment. Experience with dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners will be advantageous. Strong understanding of dental assisting duties such as chairside assisting, taking vital signs, and supporting various specialties like prosthodontics or endodontics is desirable. Certification in CPR or radiography may be required depending on state regulations; ongoing training in HIPAA compliance is expected.
