About the
Role:
The Dental Assistant plays a critical role in supporting dental professionals to deliver high-quality patient care in a safe and efficient environment. This position involves preparing treatment rooms, assisting during dental procedures, and ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained. The Dental Assistant also manages patient records, schedules appointments, and provides compassionate support to patients to ease their experience. By maintaining strict infection control protocols and utilizing dental terminology accurately, the assistant helps uphold the highest standards of dental care. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the smooth operation of the dental practice and the overall satisfaction and health of patients.Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program. Certification in Infection Control and Sterilization procedures. Basic proficiency in dental terminology and dental care practices. Experience using dental practice management software such as Dentrix.Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential. Previous experience in a busy dental office setting. Advanced training in body motion ergonomics to reduce workplace injury. Additional certifications in CPR and first aid. Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated compassion in patient care.Responsibilities:
Prepare and organize dental treatment rooms and instruments before patient appointments. Assist dentists during various dental procedures by handing instruments and materials as needed. Ensure all dental tools and equipment are sterilized and comply with infection control standards. Manage patient records and update dental software systems such as Dentrix for scheduling and documentation. Provide patients with clear instructions on oral hygiene and post-treatment care with empathy and professionalism. Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment by following body motion ergonomics and safety protocols. Support the dental team in trimming and preparing dental materials as required.Skills:
The required skills such as Dental Assisting and Dental Terminology are essential for accurately supporting dental procedures and communicating effectively with the dental team. Sterilization and Infection Control skills ensure patient safety by preventing cross-contamination and maintaining a hygienic environment. Proficiency in Dentrix software facilitates efficient patient scheduling, record keeping, and billing processes, which are critical for smooth office operations. Body Motion knowledge helps the assistant maintain proper ergonomics, reducing fatigue and injury during repetitive tasks.
