Position Details Position Details Advertising/Posting Title Department Administrative Assistant Posting Summary This role serves as administrative assistant to the Chair of the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (MMG) and supports administration of HR processes and other general operational support under the oversight of the department administrator. Assists in implementing faculty and staff recruitment and on-boarding processes to ensure compliance with University and departmental objectives. Administers the department's faculty reappointment, promotion and tenure process. In addition, processes requests for temporary hourly and student hires and international personnel visa requests. Directs support to department Chair, to include creation of documents and management of their calendar and travel. Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Associate's degree and one to three years of related HR/administrative experience required. Desirable Qualifications Bachelor's degree and one to three years of related HR/administrative experience required. Working knowledge of software applications used to support office functions and familiarity with Internet resources. Effective interpersonal communication skills and strong attention to detail. Effective writing and organizational skills. Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet applications. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse population. Prior administrative and/or academic research support related experience highly desirable.
