DPW Water Department, Job Duties and Responsibilities:

To be on call 24-7 for any emergencies and complaints. To uphold necessary

water licenses for operations. Yearly and quarterly training and schooling for CEC credits to keep water license. Monthly BAC-T and chemical samples for distribution and well To do all inspections and BAC-T sampling for ne water main construction. To do all inspections on new residential and commercial water hookups. Water line application, size and make. Pressure testing. Do daily well and well house inspections and duties. Daily water usage. Daily chlorination usage. Daily chlorine residuals. Monthly operation report for Pumpage, chlorination and BAC-T submitted to EGLE. Quarterly and annual hydrant flushing, inspection and maintenance. 40 hydrants. Annual water main, curb box, and hydrant valve turning. Meeting with engineers for new water main construction. Miss Dig Staking's for all utilities as needed. Quarterly water meter readings for business district. In contact with Elhorn Engineering to order chlorine and supplies. Water tower maintenance. Open dump valve two time a year and record. This will take approximately two hours to accomplish. Weekly ground maintenance on both the well house and water tower. Mowing, weed control, and snow plowing. Winter maintenance. Winterize park and park restrooms, cemetery, pole barn, and ball fields. Blow out all water lines. Assist current maintenance worker with various duties as needed.
