The City of Lynwood is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented, and service-driven Deputy City Clerk to uphold the highest standards of legislative integrity and public transparency. In this position, you will manage official City records, coordinate the legislative actions of the City Council, and provide essential leadership within the City Clerk's Office.

THE TEAM
Working under the direction of the City Manager and elected City Clerk, the Deputy City Clerk joins a professional team dedicated to accuracy and transparency. This role offers significant responsibility, including the supervision of administrative staff and the authority to act on behalf of the City Clerk in their absence. Examples of Duties
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Preparing agendas and minutes for the City Council, commissions, and boards. Ensuring adherence to the Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Fair Political Practices Commission requirements. Exercising direct supervision over assigned administrative staff and acting as City Clerk in their absence. Assisting in the conduct of municipal elections. Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Education:
A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration is desirable.
Experience:
Three years of progressive administrative work in municipal government (City or County Clerk's office preferred).
Certification:
Must obtain Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) certification within the first year.
Skills:
Proficiency in English grammar, recordkeeping, and the ability to type 80 wpm.
License:
Possession of a valid California driver's license.
OUR HIRING PLAN

  • Effective January 1, 2013, new members to CalPERS or an agency with CalPERS' reciprocity will be subject to the provisions of the Public Employees' Pension Reform Act of 2013 (PEPRA) and will receive 2% @ 62 benefit formula.
Employees who are current members of CalPERS or an agency with CalPERS' reciprocity, or who have less than a six month break in service between employment in a CalPERS (or reciprocal) agency and employment with the City will be enrolled in the 3% @ 60 benefit formula. All employees are required to pay the full employee contribution to CalPERS. 8% EPMC
  • All employees are required to pay the 8% CalPERS member contribution. Medical Insurance
  • The City pays up to $1128.40 per month towards any medical plan selected by the employee and his/her eligible dependents. Dental/Vision Insurance
  • The City will contribute up to 80% of the family premium for dental and vision insurance. Life Insurance
  • Life, AD & D covered at 100% by the City. Long-Term Disability
  • covered at 100% by the City. Short-Term Disability
  • covered at 100% by the City. Deferred Compensation
  • The City offers a choice of two deferred compensation providers. Vacation
  • Accrued at two weeks each year with increases based on years of service. Sick Leave
  • 96 hours annually. Management Leave
  • 70 hours annually Other Leave
  • 10 paid holidays and 4 days floating holiday leave.
4-10 Work Schedule Additional Benefits may include : Longevity Pay, Education Incentive Pay, Bilingual Pay, an Employee Assistance Program, opportunities for Citywide Training and a flexible schedule
