Town Clerk /Town Board Hours:
Part Time (15 hours per week, extra hours as needed and for elections) Mon - Fri | 9am to 12pm Position Summary The Deputy Clerk assists the Town Clerk in administering the statutory duties of the Clerk's office in accordance with Wisconsin State Statutes. This position supports municipal operations including elections, recordkeeping, licensing, financial processes, and public service. The Deputy Clerk may perform duties of the Clerk in their absence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to) Assist in maintaining official Town records, files, and documents in compliance with Wisconsin public records laws. Assist with the administration of elections, including voter registration, absentee ballots, in-person absentee voting, and working on election day as needed. Assist the Cemetery Sexton with maintaining cemetery records, including deeds, lot ownership, and burial records; update and manage data in the Town's cemetery software to ensure accuracy and compliance. Answer and direct phone calls and emails, providing information and assistance to residents and other inquiries. Provide customer service to residents, including responding to inquiries and requests. Assist with licensing processes; including liquor licenses, operator licenses, dog licenses, and permits. Assist with financial recordkeeping as needed. Assist with mailings, correspondence, and general office communications. Assist with the annual budgeting process. Ensure compliance with state statutes, local ordinances, and Town policies. Serve as a backup to the Town Clerk in their absence, including attending meetings and performing statutory duties when needed. Attend required training sessions and continuing education to maintain knowledge of Wisconsin Statutes, municipal procedures, and job-related responsibilities. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of or ability to learn Wisconsin municipal government procedures and statutes. Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general office software. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a public service environment. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior municipal, clerical, and/or administrative experience preferred. Experience with elections, licensing, or government procedures is a plus but not required. Certifications (Preferred/Required) Obtain a Notary Public commission if deemed necessary Working Conditions Office environment with regular interaction with the public. Requires some evening hours for meetings and elections. Occasional lifting of office materials.Compensation and Benefits Hourly Wage Range:
$20.00-$25.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. This position receives up to 15 hours of paid time off annually. Benefits include life insurance and income continuation insurance for disability coverage.Pay:
