Job Description
Overview The Deputy Sheriff plays a crucial role in maintaining law and order within the community. This position involves enforcing laws, conducting investigations, and ensuring public safety. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to serving the community with integrity. As a Deputy Sheriff, you will be responsible for responding to emergencies, managing conflicts, and collaborating with other law enforcement agencies. Responsibilities Enforce local, state, and federal laws while maintaining peace and order within the community. Conduct criminal investigations, gather evidence, and prepare detailed reports for court proceedings. Respond to emergency calls and incidents, providing first aid and CPR as necessary. Monitor surveillance systems to detect suspicious activities and prevent crime. Manage conflicts effectively to de-escalate potentially volatile situations. Handle animals in distress or involved in incidents, ensuring their safety and welfare. Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies on investigations and community safety initiatives. Provide guidance and leadership to junior officers and community members during outreach programs. Qualifications Is a citizen of the United States Is at least twenty-one years of age at the time of appointment. Is of good moral character. Is a graduate of an accredited high school or has a high school equivalency certificate acceptable to the Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Training Commission Is examined and certified, on forms prescribed by the commission, by a licensed physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner, to be able to perform the duties of a law enforcement officer. Has not unlawfully used any prescribed drug, controlled substance, or marijuana within one year before the time of application for certification.
