Part-Time About Tools For Tomorrow Tools For Tomorrow is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing high-quality arts education to children across the Coachella Valley. Through our afterschool Creative Clubs and Theatre Clubs, we empower young learners to explore their creativity and build artistic confidence through hands-on arts lessons. Position Summary Tools For Tomorrow seeks a passionate and engaging Teaching Artist with Early Childhood Education (ECE) experience to deliver hands-on visual arts instruction to Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students (ages 4-6) . The ideal candidate understands how young children learn through play, exploration, and sensory experiences, and can implement and lead developmentally appropriate art lessons that support early literacy, fine motor skill development, and social-emotional growth . Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver age-appropriate, hands-on visual arts lessons aligned with Tools For Tomorrow curriculum goals Organize, maintain, and transport all materials to and from the school site Integrate early literacy concepts (vocabulary, storytelling, sequencing) into art activities Support development of fine motor skills (cutting, drawing, painting, sculpting) Create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment Adapt lessons to meet diverse learning needs and abilities Manage classroom materials, setup, and cleanup Collaborate with school staff and Tools For Tomorrow program team Maintain clear communication regarding student progress and classroom experiences Program Goals The Teaching Artist will support Tools For Tomorrow's mission by helping students: Build confidence and self-expression through art Develop fine motor coordination and control Expand vocabulary and early literacy skills Practice listening, following directions, and storytelling Experience joy, curiosity, and creative exploration Qualifications Experience working with young children (ages 4-6) in an educational setting required. Background in Early Childhood Education (ECE) , Child Development, Art Education, or related field (preferred) Strong classroom management skills rooted in positive guidance and engagement Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for early learners Experience teaching visual arts (drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, etc.) Reliable, organized, and flexible
  • Must have and provide a copy of a valid California driving license and vehicle insurance. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds Must be able to perform all operations necessary for teaching such as standing, bending, and moving around the classroom to interact with students. Work Authorization / Security Clearance
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Background checks will be performed including FBI and DOJ Preferred Skills Familiarity with California Preschool Learning Foundations or similar frameworks Experience working in Title I schools or diverse communities Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus Experience with social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies Schedule & Compensation Must be available to work in the afternoons
