Film Instructor (Grades 6-12) The Artist Lab - 2.5 Irvine, CA Job Details Temporary | Part-time | Contract $25 - $45 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Film Video shooting Final Cut Pro Bachelor's degree Working with middle schoolers Teaching Full Job Description Position Overview We are seeking a Film Instructor to work with middle and high school students (grades 6-12), focusing on film production, storytelling, and portfolio development. This is a part-time, project-based role, with both in-person teaching in Irvine and online sessions. The pay range is based on teaching experience. Responsibilities
  • Teach students film production fundamentals (storytelling, shot composition, editing)
  • Guide students in short film projects from concept → filming → final cut
  • Support portfolio development for art school / program applications (e.g. Film, Media, OCSA)
  • Customize teaching based on each student's level and goals
  • Provide structured feedback and help students refine their work Requirements
  • Minimum 1 year of teaching experience (film / media / art related)
  • Background in Film, Media, or related field
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Story structure
  • Visual storytelling
  • Basic filming & editing (Premiere Pro / Final Cut preferred)
  • Experience working with middle or high school students preferred
  • Responsible, communicative, and able to guide students through projects Preferred (Strong Plus)
  • Graduated from or currently attending top film programs (e.g. USC, UCLA, NYU, Calarts etc.)
  • Experience guiding students in portfolio / audition preparation
  • Real project or industry experience in filmmaking Schedule & Format
  • Part-time / Project-based
  • Flexible schedule (based on student assignments)

  • Based on experience and background We are looking for instructors who can not only teach film skills, but also guide students in building meaningful projects and strong portfolios.
