REEL is seeking dynamic film educators to join an expanding team that is making an important difference in the lives of their students and community in the Bay Area. Throughout the school year, students will learn the basics of filmmaking in order to produce shorts for our annual student film festival. Interested? Please send us your resume to be considered.   • Share our core belief that every student is a storyteller and they all deserve equitable access to film equipment and education.
  • Serve as a mentor and advocate for our students.
  • Inspire, instruct and counsel our students throughout the school year to help facilitate their success in our program.
  • Maintain professional and respectful relationships with students, peers, families, and community members.
  • Commit to producing high quality media projects with our students and stakeholders.
  • Participate in staff development and team meetings.
  • Develop and uphold established REEL's policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Ensure that students have finished film projects to be screened at our annual film festival in May. In addition, our Teaching Artists will
  • Participate in student recruitment events at school sites throughout the year.
  • Participate in development and teaching of cross-curriculum projects that incorporate technology, cinema theory and more.
  • Collaborate with Bay Area businesses to provide opportunities for students to learn first hand about collaborating with clients.
  • Connect with industry leading professionals within the entertainment industry to support field trips and student internships.
  • Provide rigorous and relevant instruction on pre-approved hands-on curriculum in the content area and general work-place readiness. Qualifications
  • Be dedicated to the idea that film education should be accessible to all students and create opportunities for more diverse voices to be heard in the filmmaking community of the Bay Area.
  • Be a creative professional with a passion for or experience in high school education., eager to engage and contribute to a dynamic and high functioning team.
  • Familiarity with narrative and illustrative conventions and techniques in temporal media and executing projects from concept to polished production.
  • Experience working with young people and a commitment to students, faculty and the educational process.
  • Ability to participate in team work and shared decision-making as well as being an independent problem solver.
  • Very strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral, and ability to communicate technical information to non-technical students and faculty.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage the production process.
  • Ability to instruct, inspire and motivate high school students in all aspects of film (both theory and practice).
  • Firm knowledge of Sony and Adobe based production and post production equipment and software.
  • At least 2 years of experience in production and post-production audio and video technologies.
  • Hold a current California Teaching Credential, Career Technical Education Arts or Media Credential (desired not required)
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to Bay Area school sites and program events as needed.
  • Access to a reliable laptop capable of supporting production and post-production workflows (Adobe Creative Suite preferred).
  • Availability during after-school program hours and occasional evenings/weekends for events and staff meetings.
