Variable, teaching artists are hired on an ongoing basis. The 6th Street Studio is seeking talented Teaching Artists to join our program. As a Teaching Artist, you will have the ability to inspire and energize young actors to be active, creative members of our Studio family, growing participation through the quality of the experience you offer and the sense of camaraderie you build within these groups. You will be able to lead through a lens of equity, cultural awareness and sensitivity, preferably with a knowledge of developmental and educational theory and the ways in which it interacts with theater. Teaching Artists will have energetic and dynamic personalities, along with a rich toolbox of performing arts skills, including musical theater, dance, and acting. All Teaching Artists must be mature, reliable and highly skilled individuals that have the ability to create an inclusive, supportive and inspiring classroom experience that allows young people to reach their potential. Teaching Artists should have exemplary leadership and communication skills, in addition to experience working with children in groups. All Teaching Artists will be provided with training. This position is offered on a temporary, part-time basis, and offers flexible hours.
Additional Qualifications:
A passion for theater arts and working with children. Strong directing and devising skills. Ability to critically evaluate youth performance and coach them toward improvement in a supportive, constructive manner. Proficiency with Google Suite, including Docs, Drive, and Sheets. Professional and clear communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly with parents and families of students. Creative problem solving skills.
Wages:
Teaching Artists are compensated on an hourly basis, minimum of $20/hour (depending on experience) To apply: Please email a resume and cover letter to:
