Job Description

The Kent Chamber Choir, an all-auditioned, intergenerational ensemble from throughout Delaware, seeks a dynamic and visionary Artistic Director. This is a part-time appointment with an annual salary that is competitive with other local community choral organizations.
Qualifications include:
1. A successful record of conducting choirs of high artistic quality 2. A bachelor's degree in music (required), graduate degree in conducting (preferred) 3. Effective communication and organizational skills 4.
Piano proficiency Responsibilities include:
1. Build, maintain and implement an artistic vision for the organization, in coordination with the Board of Directors 2. Hold auditions annually 3. Contribute to the mission of the organization and strive to maintain a high level of artistic quality 4. Promote and advocate for the organization in public forums 5. Provide a thematic and budgetary plan for each concert to the Board of Directors at least one year in advance 6. Order music in coordination with the Kent Chamber Choir librarian 7. Hire all ad hoc instrumentalists and vocal soloists, consistent with the choir's budget, prior to the start of each concert season (when possible) 8. Conduct rehearsals in a manner that demonstrates preparation, planning, and consistent progress toward a successful performance. It is the Artistic Director's responsibility to hire a substitute conductor when a rehearsal absence is foreseen. 9.
